AGENT WADE ROBSON'S REPORT ON THE TRANSCON / JIVE CASE, page 15

At the end, we could thank to the fact that Pearlman got paranoid. Catching Scarpazzi was easy, when Agent Barr fainted, and it was obvious that he had been stabbed, the concert was closed. And a simple revision of the camera he was wearing showed us exactly where Scarpazzi was, and how it had been done.

An hour later, we found the member of security who not only allowed the knife entrance, but also eased up the way for Mrs. Shiner to go up the stage among the fans.

Scarpazzi confessed, in exchange for being admitted in the Witness Protection Program. I didn't like that one bit, since he was the one who planned the murder of my friend, Agent Barr, and my official complain is annexed to this report.

He was hired by Pearlman, who found that the proof against him in the lawsuit had been compiled by Agent Barr, in his guise as Joey Fatone. Pearlman didn't know that Barr didn't had more evidence, anything that could lead straight to foul play from Transcon, and he decided to take no risks. The information about Barr's true identity was given to Pearlman by Mrs. Benham, Britney Spear's manager and Transcon's inside 'man' on Jive.

Apparently, Mrs. Benham was one of the heads of Pearlman's drug empire.

When she confessed, we finally got enough evidence to put Pearlman behind bars. Agent Barr's case was closed.

I've been asked to give my opinion about Agent Barr's condition following the case. It's my belief that the damage he suffered from both the wound and the stress of having worked for four years undercover, just to have his cover blown by a bad timed confrontation, is very real. I am not a psychologist, but I believe that removing him from the place he perceives as safe would cause even more damage.

Enclosed with this is my official request to be placed as Agent Barr's contact and guard until his condition changes.

EXCERPT FROM THE TRANSCRIPT OF THE TESTIMONY OF JUSTIN RANDALL TIMBERLAKE, TAKEN BEFORE THE COMISSION IN CHARGE OF THE TRANSCON / JIVE CASE

Q: When did you realized that Agent Jhonatan Barr had       been hurt?
A: When… When he fell to his knees. Right in the middle       of This I promise you.
Q: Hadn't you noticed any other odd behavior before?
A: No. I… Well… He wasn't carrying his gun. He always       carried it before.
Q: You knew Agent Barr carried a gun?
A: Not until, you know, he saved me?. But later I thought       about it and realized his clothes were always baggy       in the same spot… I supposed it was the gun. He       wasn't carrying it in New Orleans. There was no       bulge.
Q: Did you knew any reason why Agent Barr could have       forgot to carry his gun?
A: We didn't talk to him much.
Q: Why not?
A: We didn't know him well, so we didn't talk to him.
Q: In the past, there are records of you saying that you       could trust Agent Barr implicitly.
A: No. I trust Joey implicitly. When we found out that he       was an agent… he was acting completely different. As       if they were two different persons. So no, I didn't       knew Agent Barr enough to trust him and talk to him.
Q: Have you visited him after the incident?
A: No. Wade… Agent Robson told us we couldn't visit. Is       he…?
Q: We do the questions here, Mr. Timberlake.
A: Sorry.

EXCERPT FROM THE TRANSCRIPT OF THE TESTIMONY OF JOSHUA "JC" SCOTT CHASEZ, TAKEN BEFORE THE COMISSION IN CHARGE OF THE TRANSCON / JIVE CASE.

Q: What was your relationship with Agent Jhonatan Barr,       aka Joseph Anthony Fatone Jr.?
A: Joey was my friend... I… I really didn't knew Agent       Barr really well.
Q: Do you mean that you perceived Agent Barr and Joseph
Fatone as two different people? Even after finding       out the truth about Agent Barr's assignment?
A: He acted really different. If we hadn't know, and he       had started acting like that, we would have thought       Joey had gone insane.
Q: How?
A: Well… Joey was never quiet. He always said what he       thought, especially when he was sure something was       wrong. And he fought for what he believed in. Agent       Barr… Well, I don't know. The few times I saw him,       after we found out about him… He always seemed angry.
Q: And you noticed this only after Agent Robson had to       explain their missions to you?
A: Yes. Well, no. There was one time, back at Transcon…       When we went to ask Lou, Mr. Pearlman, to give Chris       his solo back, Joey had the same expression. But, not       the same. Joey always looked more alive than that       last month.
Q: Did he ever approached the subject of his mission with       you in that month?
A: No… We… we thought he didn't want to be around us back
then, so we almost never talked to him unless it was       really necessary, usually just for interviews.
Q: Describe the events of the night when the incident       happen.
A: It was pretty much like usual. All our concerts go       more or less in the same fashion. Jo… Agent Barr was       really quiet, but we had gotten used to that… as I       said before. He kept watching Chris, though. Then,       after Just got Paid, he was kind of stiff. I didn't
notice anything wrong, until he fainted. Chris       noticed first, and he was almost by his side, yelling       for him to open his eyes. But he never did.
Q: What name did Mr. Kirkpatrick called?
A: He called for Joey. Chris never called Agent Barr for       his real name.
Q: Why?
A: I don't know. Chris didn't like Agent Barr that much.

EXCERPT FROM THE TRANSCRIPT OF THE TESTIMONY OF JAMES LANCE BASS, TAKEN BEFORE THE COMISSION IN CHARGE OF THE TRANSCON / JIVE CASE.

Q: Do you have any reason to believe Agent Barr had any       kind of affection for the group?
A: What kind of affection?
Q: Let me rephrase. Do you believe that Agent Barr would
consciously fail on his mission or lie for the sake       of the group?
A: No.
Q: You're completely sure, Mr. Bass? I must remind you,       you're under an oath.
A: I been thinking about it a lot. And I believe every       action Agent Barr took in the past 4 years were for       his mission's sake.
Q: Even helping you to set your own agency?
A: Free Lance? Yeah. The research I was doing on       contracts and legal stuff helped him to raise       evidence against Pearlman when we decided to sue.
Q: Leaving Transcon was for the good of his mission?
A: If he hadn't, you would have never know about       Transcon's ties with Jive.
Q: How do you know that, Mr. Bass?
A: I read the papers. It's all over the place.
Q: And I am sure you will have a good reason for Agent       Barr to have failed to report your relationship with       Mr. Chasez.
A: Since it has nothing to do with the case, why would he       mention it?
Q: There was no reason not to mention it. Unless it was       to hide his own relationship with Mr. Kirkpatrick…
A: There was nothing between him and Chris. Chris hated       Agent Barr.

EXCERPT FROM THE TRANSCRIPT OF THE TESTIMONY OF CHRISTOPHER ALLAN KIRKPATRICK, TAKEN BEFORE THE COMISSION IN CHARGE OF THE TRANSCON / JIVE CASE.

Q: State the nature of your relationship with Agent Barr.
A: I had nothing to do with him.
Q: Mr. Kirkpatrick, we found that hard to believe. In       more than one interview, you stated that he was your       best friend.
A: No. Joey was my best friend. I never talked to 'Agent       Barr'.
Q: Mr. Kirkpatrick, Agent Barr and Joseph Fatone were the       same person.
A: No, they weren't. I told you that already.
Q: Mr. Kirkpatrick, if you cooperate this will go more       swiftly. At any time did Agent Barr gave you reasons       to believe he wanted to stay with the group instead       of finishing his mission?
A: Fuck, no.
Q: Language, Mr. Kirkpatrick. Are you completely sure?
A: YES! He said that he wanted it to be over, and go back       to his work.
Q: You had stated you didn't talk to Agent Barr.
A: I only talked to him that once. How is he?
Q: Why you worry for him? Your bandmates were under the
impression that you hated him, and even so, you were       the first one to run to his side when…
A: Fuck this! I want to know how he is! Why don't you let       us go and visit him?!

EXCERPT FROMTRANSCRIPT OF INTERVIEWS HELD BY DR. MAJORLY VICKS WITH PATIENT JHONATHAN BARR AT THE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA.

Q: What's your name?
A: I told you already. Joey Fatone. From *N Sync? Ring a       bell?
Q: Full name, please.
A: Joseph Anthony Fatone, Jr. Want me to repeat it again?
Q: Date and Place of Birth?
A: Jan. 28, 1977. Brooklyn NY. You can get this from a       mag, you know?
Q: What is the last thing you remember?
A: Chris calling my name, a lot of pain. Waking up here       and having a lot of people telling me I'm not who I       think I am. Why? You forgot the last three times I       told you this?
Q: I told you I am trying to establish a pattern here,       Jhon.
A: My name is not Jhon. Call me Joey, like everyone else.
Q: I can't do that, Jhon. You know it.
A: No, I don't know it! And my name is Joey! I don't know       who this Jhon everyone keeps talking about is! I just       want to go home!
Q: Home? New York?
A: No. The tour bus. We're in the middle of a tour, right?       And why they haven't come to visit me? Is Chris… No,       never mind.
Q: Yes? … What's wrong… Joey?
A: Is Chris still mad at me?

EXCERPT FROM DR. MAJORLY VICKS' REPORT ON JHONATHAN BARR'S MIND HEALTH.

…And so, it is my professional opinion that even when the damage caused to Jhonatan Barr's mental health could be healed, it would be a mistake to remove him from the environment he perceives as safe and as his own. Even when he has accepted that the man he remembers as his brother 'Steve' is in fact an FBI agent, he still doesn't believe that he is not Joseph Anthony Fatone, and in his mind has even created memories that were not included in his original dossier.

Against my best judgment, a series of tests were made using truth serums and lie detectors, most without his knowledge. He passed them all. There is no incongruence to be found in his memories as Joey Fatone. Another interesting thing is that he does not know everything Agent Barr knew about the case and the group. He doesn't remember any of the conversations Agent Barr had with Agent Robson, nor some of the actions that we have been able to identify as pure Barr actions. It only helps to sustain my theory, stated in my previous report, that Agent Barr was suffering from a mild case of multiple personality disorder, that now has been worsened by the trauma of being stabbed and other causes.

Joey, this new personality, is not so radically different from Barr as one would think. He's more outgoing, more flirty, and definitively, more impulsive. He also loves the boys dearly, a trait that Barr did demonstrate, but were Barr was protective, Fatone is
affective. Trusty. He is deeply hurt because he believes that his friends don't want to see him.

I know that the Bureau will do what is in their best judgment for the case, and Agent Barr's mental health. However, I do like to point out again that removing 'Joey' from the group right now could end up making the damage irreversible…

* * *

"I still have to go to see her, you know?"

"I know. It sucks."

"At least, they finally let me out…"

"And Wade returned. He's way too good as a choreographer to loose his time in the bureau."

"It's kind of weird… Is all that really true?"

"Which part?"

"The part about me… not being me. Like, having a mental disorder and stuff."

"Yeah. Freaky, right?"

"And… how is this… other me?"

"He's not you. I mean, I'm probably damaging you a lot more by saying it… but he was not you."

"…"

"Joey? What's wrong?"

"I… I remember things, you know? Random stuff? I… I remember you yelling at me."

"I never yell at you. I was… I was yelling at him."

"It hurt, though. It was the only thing I could think of back at the hospital. I thought… I thought you hated me."

"I never hated you, Joe. Shit, I didn't even hate him… except because he took you away from me."

"Oh."

"…"

"…"

"You… Do you remember more of that time?"

"I… You… you said I wasn't the man you fell in love with…"

"Ah…"

"And it hurt, Chris. I… I think… I think it hurt more than getting stabbed."

"Joey…"

"Yeah?"

They looked at each other for a long moment. Finally, Chris fished for something on his jacket, and handed it to Joey.

It was a small box, black. Joey opened it, and then looked at Chris, eyes open wide.

Inside the box, resting in a velvet cushion, was a small silver ring with the superman insignia on black. Carefully, Joey took it, and read the inscription inside: J. & C.

"J?" Joey asked, softly.

"I was wrong…" Chris whispered, when Joey looked at him again."When… when the bureau interrogated us… Well, I had a lot of time to think about things. And… even when you are Joey, and he's this super secret agent… Deep inside, you both are very much alike. So…"

"So?"

"So I want you to remember that no matter who you are, I still love you."
